Museo Altamira

About the visit

There are three ways to visit the permanent exhibition, which includes the Neocave: on your own, accompanied by one of the museum’s guides, or accompanied by a guide officially recognised by the museum.

Due to its size, visitors are admitted to the Neocave in groups of up to 25 for around 30 minutes at a time. It takes approximately 40 minutes to visit the remaining rooms.

To facilitate group visits, we recommend that the guides accompanying the group split their party into smaller groups prior to entering the museum.

For larger groups, the Reservations Department will prepare a visit plan to help ensure visitors make the most of their time at the museum.

Museum services: the museum has free parking for buses to ensure your comfort during your visit. All large items of luggage should be deposited at the left-luggage or cloakroom areas. All signs and information for the exhibition are in Spanish and English, and leaflets are available in both languages, as well as in French, German and Sign Language.

Both the building and the grounds are accessible and there are reserved parking spaces, ramps, lifts, and adapted toilets for those with disabilities. The museum has a wheelchair that is available upon request.

For eating in the museum, there is a café–restaurant that is open in spring, summer and autumn. During the winter months, vending machines are in operation. Food and drink purchased off the premises may be consumed in the outside terrace.

The surrounding meadow and forest area has paths for walking in the grounds, equipped with benches, bins and water fountains.

There is a first aid room and baby changing facilities are available in all toilets.
