The Times of Altamira

Altamira and science

How is it possible to know how people lived so many years ago? Prehistoric archaeology is the science that allows us to reconstruct the past and discover life in the Times of Altamira.

The science studies mans past based on remains discovered at archaeological sites. It does not only deal with the objects that are recovered, but also with the land where they were deposited, and all the tiny particles from which it is possible to glean information about climate, fauna and vegetation

A number of disciplines work together to reconstruct our remotest past, including sedimentology, palaeontology, palaeobotany, palynology, charcoal analysis and malacology

From its origins in the second half of the 20th century, archaeology has undergone considerable changes to form the complex discipline we know today.
